About Dene Lodge
The Dene Lodge’s main building dates back to 1890, since then the building has had multiple occupations and roles in the local community, significant additions have been added to the building in recent years.
EXPANDING CARE WITH COMFORT
‘Rachel’s House’ – Now re-opened!
A dedicated care facility in the grounds of Dene Lodge, providing 6 additional ensuite rooms and an alternative communal area. This setting is unique as a stepping stone into a care environment, where large busy buildings can feel so overwhelming after living at home independently.
Freedom to explore
Between the main building and Rachel’s House we have 33 rooms, all with ensuite bathroom facilities, there are also two large communal spaces and dedicated dining areas in both buildings.
The Dene Lodge has an added bonus of its dining room opening out onto an enormous secure balcony. Allowing our residents to freely roam from inside to out, while remaining in a safe environment. There is also a large garden with opportunities to walk and potter throughout the year.
The kitchen at dene lodge
The kitchen at Dene Lodge provides home cooked meals for the entire site.
We offer choice and diversity around our meal choices and our resident are able to make their own decisions regarding the meals they wish to eat. Our main meal is at lunchtime and our staff sit and eat alongside our residents to provide support and encouragement during these crucial mealtimes. The kitchen also provides a dedicated nutritional assistant to the care floor. This member of staff delivers no personal care but is entirely responsible for assisting with nutrition and hydration while logging information into our care planning software.
Dedicated Care and Enrichment
We have over 25 full time care staff employed within the home, all of these staff are trained in the nuance and diversity of dementia care, are first aid trained and have hold a qualification in Positive Behaviour Support.
Which promotes positive care outcomes, reduces escalating behaviour, and redirects our residents into more engaging activities. There are an additional 8 staff that are trained to administer medications. This is managed via a digital system within the home to ensure residents receive the correct medications at the correct times.
We also have 4 dedicated activities co-ordinators, with a primary role of providing activities and engagement for our residents. This is delivered on a large scale with group activity or an intimate 1-1 basis depending on the preferences of the resident. The team work hard to maintain and develop our connections to the local community and organise trips in the local area, such as the local garden centre, trips across Exmoor and into the amenities of town. The team work hard to bring diverse and interesting activities to the home. With live music, animals and plays visiting the home throughout the year.
The Dene Lodge is pleased to be partnered with Kris at HolisticFit. Who visits our home weekly to provide mobility and strength conditioning training to our residents.
